The canine parvo virus is quite small as you can see from the electron microscope image below. The naming also reflects the size as "parvo" is Latin for small. This is a VERY contagious virus that is transmitted orally.
Being a virus, they are unable to reproduce until they invade the a host
cell, once they do, the cell bursts and transmits more virus particles
into the blood stream. Incubation of this virus is usually 5-10 days. Proper medication and medical help usually leads to a quick recovery. |
